A host of preparation methods have been developed and improved to convert different sample compounds to an appropriate gas including H<sub>2<\/sub>, CO, CO<sub>2<\/sub>, N<sub>2<\/sub>, and SO<sub>2<\/sub>. The measured values expressed in delta notation like \u03b4<sup>2<\/sup>H, \u03b4<sup>13<\/sup>C, \u03b4<sup>15<\/sup>N, \u03b4<sup>18<\/sup>O, \u03b4<sup>34<\/sup>S The delta values are defined as follows: \u03b4 (\u2030) = (R<sub>sample<\/sub>\/ R<sub>reference<\/sub>-1) * 1000, where R is the\u00a0<sup>13<\/sup>C\/<sup>12<\/sup>C,\u00a0<sup>15<\/sup>N\/<sup>14<\/sup>N or\u00a0<sup>34<\/sup>S\/<sup>32<\/sup>S etc. ratio in the sample or in the international reference.\u00a0The isotope results were calculated on the basis of the known values of international standard materials.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The <span style=\"color: #000000;\">Elemental Analyser (<strong>Fisons NA1500 NCS)<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0is based on the complete and instantaneous oxidation of the sample by flash combustion which converts all organic and inorganic substances into combustion products. The resulting combustion gases pass through a reduction furnace and are swept into the chromatographic column by the carrier gas (helium). The gases are separated in the column and detected by the IRMS (\u03b4<sup>13<\/sup>C, \u03b4<sup>15<\/sup>N, \u03b4<sup>34<\/sup>S). Isotopic analyses of water samples or carbonates are carried out with an automated\u00a0<strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">GASBENCH<\/span> II<\/strong>\u00a0sample preparation device attached to the IRMS. Hydrogen and oxygen isotopes of the water, carbon and oxygen isotopes of carbonate samples are measured by this method.
